The renowned ToravitaĀ® brand is manufactured in Hutchinson, MN, United States, while Lake StatesĀ® remains in production at the Rhinelander facility, WI. Additionally, Lake StatesĀ® Type E is produced in Estonia (NGP Verified). In 2023, an exciting development occurred as the NGP Verified item Lake States Type E produced in Europe was complemented by its corresponding NGP verified item produced in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and named Lake StatesĀ® Type N.

IFT 2023 – Recipe Cheez Puffs Vegan White Cheddar
We developedĀ  a perfect combination to enjoy a guilt-free cheesy experience in your vegan snack. ToravitaĀ® 300 effectively masks the typical bitterness of the brown pea. The result is a pleasantly neutral snack, to be flavored as desired. Savor-LyfeĀ® CA adds a pleasant and mature cheese flavor note, though free from ingredients of animal origin.
IFT 2023 – RECIPE PLANT BASED TACO MEAT
We achieved success in creating a soy-based meat substitute by incorporating Savor-LyfeĀ® BEC for a robust beef-like flavor, along with ToravitaĀ® 300 to mask undesirable tastes from the soy base.
IFT 2023 – Recipe Vegan Soft Ice Cream

Juicy Meatballs
ToravitaĀ®Ā 030 adds mouthfeel and contributes to a soft, rich and juicy texture, also a potential substitute of fat or meat portions. The spices and herbs in the recipe are enhanced and the yeast contributes to the overall pleasant flavor profile.
Pea-based vegan burger
For this meat plant-based application, we worked both with inactive yeast and yeast extract flavor. ToravitaĀ®Ā 300 masks the bitter and beany flavor notes of vegetable proteins while adding pleasant umami flavor and balancing the spices in the recipe. Savor-LyfeĀ® BEC contributes to building the meaty flavor, by its animal-free "beef extract" notes.
Phosphate-free emulsified sausage “Lyoner style”
Our selected yeast-based ingredients, such as LalvitaĀ® 2190 and ToravitaĀ®Ā 033 can play a role in the substitution of phosphates in meat products. Check as an example the recipe of this emulsified sausage, "Lyoner style". It also tastes better!

In this recipe, ToravitaĀ® 000 helps to bind the flavors as well as providing texture enhancement by retaining water syneresis. The torula yeast reveals the flavors of the tomato by supporting with low sodium, natural amino acids.
